I am planning on creating a painting of some nesting dolls as well as creating actual nesting dolls. This drawing helps me plan my subject matter as well as play around with all of the cool patterns that go into the clothes.

The binding of twine represents our casual selective sight. Many believe that seeing is believing and thus willingly choose what to see or not see in order to build that perfect rose colored world in their minds. These sights serve to justify the choices that they make. The raw twine resembles the feeling one gets when one making a bad or immoral decision. The feeling is like the twine for the twine is uncomfortable to hold and tense. The twine is also in a tangled mess with no order which is the thought process in these moments. The drawing is done on wood for the way it reminds the viewer of skin. The wood is made up of grains and cells. It rots and ages like we do. There are many imperfections on the wood like on the surface of our skin which makes both interesting.

24x30 in. Oil Pastel
If a picture is worth a thousand words then a self portrait serves as a journal entry for a present portion in life. This drawing talks about my experiences of working a full time job while going to school full time while running my own studio. The stress is almost excruciating at times and I find myself physically tearing away at my own hair or clothes. The mangled fingers of the portrait pulling away at the face is how I express the tension that I feel within. The intensity of the colors depict the levels of stress that I pass through. It may seem like an exaggeration but i assure you that it is not. There is a very chunky texture in this drawing that really speaks of these rocky times. The chunkiness of the pastel is uncertain and spread out all over my portrait. This mood I express in my portrait intensifies as the end of the year approached and tensions at my job rise. The colors in this painting are like some bomb ready to explode. It is like when metal gets really hot and starts to change color from the heat to red then orange then white right before the explosion.
This is how I feel oh so many times. Mostly while I am at work and the mood just bleeds into other times when I am away from my job. One must pretend to care about things that they have heard, seen or done a hundred times over. People run around prettending what they do is of the highest priority. I swear that my job is rotting my soul. I must fight this evil or at least get as far away as possible.

Yesterday I was cashiering all day and this guy was my third customer. He definitely did not seem like the type that would shop at the home depot. The drawing on the right was done while I was at the register. It was rather stealthy of me :-)

I have just completed my final drawing. I completely changed my original idea for the color scheme and decided against the black outlines. I think it works much better than my original idea. Perhaps I will go back and outline the figures with another color ink but i am still undecided and i dont think it is necessary. Anyways enjoy this little drawing in celebration of thinking outside the box.
Also i realize that I am being a bit hypocritical by trying to think outside the box while bringing you a drawig that is very much inside the box for me. In fact its at the very core of that box. I assure that I am thinking outside the boxes bounds yesh!!!

I hope that you all enjoy this very early morning post.
I have been up all night in the studio and I will be back
at it as soon as i am off work at 3 till about the same time
tomorrow. The plus side to all this is that you get a Daily
Drawing really early. All this drawing I am doing is all for
a great cause. I am conceiving a new work that I am sure
that you will love thoroughly or at least mildly, but I
guarantee that you will not hate it.

This painting is familiar to all of you who have been visiting my gallery the last couple of first fridays. This painting is the focus of my discussion of the week. This is known as the lobster painting which may not be so ovious when you are viewing it too close. What I wanted to express with this painting is how societies thrive with the conquest of other people. The Lobsters are the proud warriors but yet they are simply on display. It is degrating that they are unable to fight back because simple rubber bands have been put on thier claws. These lobsters are now simply food for our consumption.
I hope that everybody enjoys this
one. It is just a fun take on the
little white lies and fibs that we
all must wear daily.
Its a late one for i have been drawing
in the studio for 7 hours straight. I
am determined to finish my schnazzy
new drawing :D

These mortal enemies have done battle from
the beginning of time. Both fight relentlessly
untill one is dead. What they both fail to realize
is that they are both stranded on dry land.
One may win the fight but both lose thier lives.

So the Gallery walk turned out fantastic last night. It was the most people we have had I think. Things started off slow but once it got going it was intense. My studio way in the back was completely packed full of people. There was lots of support from the community and people really loved the artwork. It was a great night and it was more than I could hope for. Thank you to all the people who made it out that night and thank you for all of the support. I love Fort Collins!!!
