I used to think that I created art so that I would have something important to share with people. That what I created would somehow change the world by changing the perception of people. Now I realize that this is naive idealism. These days the creation of art has simply been a way in which I exorcise my thoughts so that I may examine them. Art is a learning tool where I can better understand the world around me. That is simply why I create art. It is my perception that I seek to enhance. To be honest my art is self serving, nothing more.

The male angler fish is 1/10th the size of the female. The male attaches itself to the female with specialized teeth. After a few months the male becomes completely fused with the female and they are to spend the rest of their lives this way. The male gets all its nutrients from the females blood while the female gets an endless supply of sperm. Despite their menacing appearance it seems that the anglerfish is one that believes in matrimony.

I painted this pink skull on a metal electrical box door that I found in an alley way. This is a beginning of transforming found discarded material into something new by my designs to them. The contrast between the old decaying texture of the material and the clean crisp lines really appeals to me.
