24 There is a Monster in Him
An insatiable desire grows inside of him.
It feeds the monster within.
this is the final drawing i did for the night.
I am quite pleased.
It seems that my monster has been
well fed tonight :-)

Free Verse
A new technique in street art has just presented itself to me. I read about something called free verse on Wooster Collective. Free Verse is when participants take lines of poetry and tag that and take a picture that shows how the verse harmonizes with the enviornment in which it is in. It is a very creative idea that lends itself well to poets and photographers alike.

Undergraduate show update!!!
So as you know i was accepted into the Colorado State University Undergraduate show. I was there opening night but didnt stay very long and missed the jurrying of the work!!! So today I just found out that two ladies from the Denver Museum of Contemporary art juried the show and they love both of my peices. So now both peices of artwork have won jurors picks from the show. This is an unexpected and wonderful turn of events!!! Visit the Curfman Gallery to see "The Suitors" and "The Bound Woman" until May 1st.
13 Improper Undergarments
Its funny how we never truly
know
how a person is underneath.
We present ourselves to be
proper but are sometimes really
freaky underneath.

Drawing from Nature
I have thought about the metaphors that i use to represent ideas and emotions that can't be explained with simple woreds. What I have come to realize is that most of the time i draw my metaphors from the natural world rather than the world created by the hand of man. This is interesting to me because all of my life I have livedin urban areas completely surrounded by everything man made. I would be unable to survive without the comforts that the modern world provides. It would seem natural if I drew comparisons from objects that I see Daily like the warm glow of a street light or the luminesence of the television. Instead I use flowers and animals and phenomina in nature to help express myself. This shows that I am connected with nature no matter how far away i am from it. Wether I distance myself from the natural world by choice or not I still feel a certain connection to my roots. Despite my lack of contact with nature i feel a stronger connection with it than concrete and steel. This connection with nature while living in a city leaves me in an odd middle ground with one foot on either side. Perhaps what this means is that there is harmony to be found between the natural world and the man made one. Or that the man made world must find harmony with the natural one. Maybe I am the flower that grows from the crack in the concrete.

So this weekend is full of art related events!!! Today thursday april 2nd The new Csu Museum will be opening up. The opening reception is 7pm to 9pm. The ribbon cutting will take that long because it is enormous. Friday the 3rd internationally reknown artist Mel Chin will be speaking at the Csu Museum from 5:30pm to 6:30 pm. I shall be attending this event so i will miss the first hour of the friday night gallery walk. I will be at my studio right after the event so you can still catch me at The Gallery underground. MOCA will be having the mask exhibition on friday night as well. The exhibit focuses on masks painted by members of the community. Proffessional artists as well as art enthusiasts will be displaying work. On Saturday the 4th the CSU Undergraduate Art Exhibition will be held at the Curman Gallery at the Lory Student Center starting at 6pm. I shall be at that opening for about an hour or two. I hope to see everyone at these events, this weekend is a great chance to get some great art exposure which is very rare in Fort collins
