178 Right Hand of the Devil

He's a very suave devil and the little hand pupped is oh so cute :) I drew this up while having some lunch at whole foods. I think some of the folks around me were a little startled when they looked at my drawing pad but that didnt bother me. I love eating and drawing there. It has such a big city feel. I suppose its a little practice to prepare me for my big city move ;)

177 Siamese Duck

When I look at a duck floating on a lake I always wonder whether it is a reflection or a siamese duck :P

Tour de Fat Amigos

For this magnificent bike parade I carried around with me my Diana mini 35mm camera. I have a love of film that I do not share with the digital medium of photography. Dont get me wrong I think that digital is great and I use some expensive slr's for my professional work but for photographs for me I stick to film. This film is very special because it comes from the Agfa factory which no longer runs. It provides wonderfully vibrant colors that no other film has the ability to deliver. The diana camera creates a dreamlike blur which is perfect for the bottom shot because it seems like a scene right out of a dream with a girl jump ropping between two bikes. The camera is also a halframe camera which went extinct ages ago. It lets me take 2 shots on one single frame. It is amazing. For me this camera was love at first sight. I bought it when I first saw it without a moments hessitation. The top frame of this pictue just came out so well and is the perfect example of shooting from the hip. As I was on my bike I simply turned around and took some shots of these three guys in thier wrestling outfits. They look like 3 badass wrestlers out for a ride. It reminds me of a scene right out of a comic book where the heroes strike a pose when they arrive somewhere :P

175 Volcano Crab

(Read as if a British announcer were reading this) This docile denizen of the deep lives in the shadows and thrives with isolation from other creatures. It is a modest creature that lives a humble life feeding on any bit of sustenance that may travel to the very bottom of the ocean floor. The Volcano Crab is a quite and elusive hermit but if confronted by a threat the crab has a unique ability to defend itself by spewing boiling sulfurous waters from the top of its shell thus earning its name.

174 Alone on the Sea of Type

As I designed my typeface I imagined myself in solitude in a boat amidst a sea of letters. The waters were murky and foreboeding. I designed for what seemed like an eternity. Land was but a dream that taunted me almost to the brink of insanity. It was a journey that songs and stories will be written about. Probablly not but it certainly was not easy. I feel truly accomplished as if I did cross a great sea :)

173 Bear Hunter

So I didnt have my handy dandy pad of paper so I experimented with some newspaper. Its not a very good paper. In fact one of the worst to draw on but It gives an interesting texture. I delve deeper into other papers ;)

170 Complaints Department

This is where all ones complaining should be kept. It irks me when people complain about nothing or even worse is when someone complains about something they themselves partake in. This is also my chance to draw an outhouse. For some reason I like the look of the old timey outhouse. They should make port-o-poties look like them :)

Fish Head on a golden platter update

Here is another update on the painting. School has been really weighing me down lately and I haven't had the time to come in and work on my painting all. I wish I were a full time artist then I would be done with this painting over a month ago. I will keep chugging along on this painting and I will keep updating everyone as I finish it up :)

168 Just the Tip

These are the remnants of my pencils after a hard fought battle. They have helped me accomplished my task but they are forever marred by the experience.

166 Onions Make Me Cry

The tasty flaky onion is a very interesting vegetable whose roots run as deep as human history. This little vegetable originated in Asia and soon made its way to every corner of the globe in every single dish one can think of. The ancient Egyptians worshiped the onion because they believed that its round shape and inner concentric rings represented eternity. Onions if you havent noticed will make you cry if you chop one of them up. Well that is because of sulfenic acids released when one cuts the vegetable. The sulfenic acids affect open nerves found on the cornea wich sends messages to the brain saying that the eye is burning. The brain then reacts by turning on the tears to wash the irritant away. Onions do contain many good things that help prevent and cure a slew of diseases found in humans. You will never think of the onion the same way again.

163 Cool Beans

These are are the coolest beans around :D I just finished my typeface and got it printed at kinkos. Whew I am glad that its over and done with. It was a good experience but far too time consuming to hand illustrate the entire alphabet and numbers and punctuation. Since I have met my deadline then I can reward myself with a brand new Nikon d300! Today is a great day :D

157 Canonizer

This takes me back to my jr. highschool days when I used to draw alien weapons all the time. This one is definitely Earthworm Jim inspired. If you have never played the game then the hero is an earthworm that goes through these fantastical worlds and has some really cool and crazy weapons :D

156 Turkeys Enchanted by Trash

Turkeys are so dumb that they would mistake a garbage of trash for art. They need a better publicist as well. One that wont have them be the main course of a national holiday every year :P

155 Little Boy and Big Whale

151 Chicken Rejects

I read something a little disturbing this morning. I found out that when chicks hatch they are graded right away. The ones that don't pass the grade because they aren't healthy enough, wont grow fast enough, produce enough meat, or are off in any way are rejected. What is the worst that can happen with rejection you say? Well being tossed into a mechanical grinder is the fate of these chicks. It is quite horrid and inhumane. Even the ancient Greeks didn't treat their ill formed children in such a cruel manner.

Live Painting

Here I am doing a live painting show at Hodis Halfnote. This was saturday august the 29th. It was a great time. The heat in there was almost unbearable. The music made my canvas shake. I really enjoyed this and the crowed did as well :D
