Creation of Art

I used to think that I created art so that I would have something important to share with people. That what I created would somehow change the world by changing the perception of people. Now I realize that this is naive idealism. These days the creation of art has simply been a way in which I exorcise my thoughts so that I may examine them. Art is  a learning tool where I can better understand the world around me. That is simply why I create art. It is my perception that I seek to enhance. To be honest my art is self serving, nothing more.
