Blind Choice 10"x10" twine and ink on wood panel

The binding of twine represents our casual selective sight. Many believe that seeing is believing and thus willingly choose what to see or not see in order to build that perfect rose colored world in their minds. These sights serve to justify the choices that they make. The raw twine resembles the feeling one gets when one making a bad or immoral decision. The feeling is like the twine for the twine is uncomfortable to hold and tense. The twine is also in a tangled mess with no order which is the thought process in these moments. The drawing is done on wood for the way it reminds the viewer of skin. The wood is made up of grains and cells. It rots and ages like we do. There are many imperfections on the wood like on the surface of our skin which makes both interesting.
